Woodwind Specialist and Instructor
Luis Corpus, a native from Harlingen, Texas. Studied clarinet performance at Texas State University, under the direction of Dr. Vanguel Tangarov. Luis served as principal clarinet for the Texas State Wind Symphony, Texas State Symphony Orchestra, Texas State Opera Orchestra, Texas State Clarinet Choir, and the Bobcat Marching Band leadership team as the clarinet section leader. He has also performed with the Mary Hardin Baylor Symphony Orchestra and The Common Experience: A Fine Arts Collaboration between Texas State University and Juilliard and the Mid-Texas Symphony. Recently, Mr. Corpus was accepted and attended the “Balabanov’s House Music Days International Festival” in Plovdiv Bulgaria. Here he studied with some of the best clarinetist around the world. Among his performance schedules, Corpus maintains a private clarinet and violin studio throughout the Austin and San Marcos Texas areas. Corpus directed the beginner elementary ensemble class for the Texas State String Project for four years. Mr. Corpus has also taught at Startzville Elementary School with the Startzville Violin Program, the Canyon High School Marching Band, the Harlingen High School Band and the Connally High School Band. Luis is currently the proud woodwind director for the John B. Connally High School Band in Austin, Texas. He has participated in master classes with artist such as, Dr. David Pino (Texas State University), Jon Guist(University of Texas Brownsville), Michael Norsworthy (Boston Conservatory), Dr. Nancy Kingsanders (Texas A&M-Kingsville), Michael Dean, Charles Neidich (Juilliard School of Music), Andre Mason (Montreal Symphony), Mitchell Estrin (University of Florida) , Shannon Scott (Washington State University), Gary Whitman, Victor Chavez and Ted Lane (University of Texas Pan-American), Philippe Cuper (Principal of the National Opera Hous in Paris), Boris Allakhverdyan (Principal Metropolitan Opera), David Hould (American Ballet Orchestra, NY), and Stephen Girko (Principal Austin Symphony Orchestra).
